Agentic Menu Button

Status: built 2026-10-21, ready for dev 2026-10-21 (HANDOFF.md). Replaces the isAgentic option of the Menu Button proposal.

Problem

The Menu Button proposal carried the agentic treatment as an isAgentic option on its trigger. The design decision is to make the agentic menu and split buttons new components, not extensions of the existing ones.

Proposal

A separate component, AgenticMenuButton, for a menu of actions the agent does:

  • the trigger is the Agentic Button (the secondary look with the AI gradient border) with the angle-down;
  • with iconOnly the trigger is an Icon Button with variant='agentic';
  • everything else is the Menu Button: menuItems (menu item, link, heading, separator, node), placement, size, tally, statusDot, disabled, onClick, onOpenChange, isMobileAccordion, undefinedLabel, testId.

It has no variant (there is one look). It reuses the Menu Button's markup, classes and CSS.

Out of scope for now

The navbar, subtle and reverse-secondary triggers (they have no agentic look), and the isSelected menu item option (it lives on the Menu Button, and nothing uses it).
